lithium batteries - are they really that good?

there is a lot of great information on the internet when it comes to batteries. i found that the key is finding the right battery – just posted a link to a good site on this. i know there is a lot of buzz on lithium chemistry right now especially for cordless tools. lithium is great- lighter weight, charges faster, etc. i found a great site that covers all sorts of faqs on batteries as they relate to where they're being used.

on cordless tools – i’ve gotten the best experience with nicd. takes a nice beating and stands up more to vibration and heat over lithium – b/c you know i’m working my tools! you’d think with all of the negative attention on lithium this summer and laptop batteries blowing up entire laptops - this particular chemistry should get its own pr campaign to make you choose it! a recent post i read had someone rebuilding a lithium ion laptop battery pack. i’d rather buy a well known after market brand like rayovac laptop batteries over burning down my house soldering lithium cells together. maybe that’s just me. i like my house.
